What is Local Optimization?

30 Sep 2013, by Carlyon Christian in Blog

You are a local business with a website, Facebook page, and a Twitter account.  Now what? How do you distinguish yourself among two or three other businesses that are like yours, in the same location? How do you pull in new customers from an online search? Time to focus on local optimization. What is local optimization? In simple terms, it means making your business search friendly. Are you on Social Media sites that your customers are on, and are you using correct keyword terms that your customers are using to find your business? K-3 Technologies would like to give you a brief overview of what you should be looking for in local optimization: So let’s start with correct keywords. One of the easiest ways to check for great keywords is to use Google Keywords Tool. Use keywords that are “geo-located” when searching. For example: Say you are a Landscaper in Marietta. You might try typing in words like: Atlanta Landscaping, Marietta Landscaping, and Georgia Landscaping. Then you will use Google Keywords to see how many times each of these keywords is being searched for. Then add the most prominent keywords into your SEO and Social Media for top search optimization. These keywords will also be of use for both Title and Meta Tag descriptions within your website. Next step is to be on Social Media. Have your business be on the big four: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Google Places. When describing your company in the “about us” sections, use the search rich keywords that you used to optimize your website. Not only will this give continuity to your brand, but customers will be searching for the same keywords in Social Media as they would in Google or Bing. You want your customers to know that you are listening to what they are looking for, even on Social Media. Finally, but certainly not the last thing you should be looking at, is to claim your business listing! Just like an ad in the Yellow pages, there are quite a few places to claim your listing now. For example: Yelp, Kudzu, Google Places, Yahoo Local, Bing Local, Angie’s List, the list goes on and on. Your business should be on these places mainly to get feedback and reviews of your business by customers. You want to hear from the customers, and want them to talk about you to friends, family, and co-workers either on Social Media or in real life. This is why keyword branding is so important; you want customers to use the keywords in their reviews so your company shows consistency across the board. K-3 Technologies would love to help with local optimization for your brand and company. We believe in working locally, and creating bonds with smaller companies across Atlanta. We strive to find the best keywords that will fit your company, and bring in the customers you want to attract. K-3 Technologies will help your company stand out above the rest! Looking forward to helping your business achieve your goals!
