Four Programs to Use for 2014

17 Dec 2013, by Carlyon Christian in Blog

It’s so hard to believe that 2014 is right around the corner. 2013 seems to have just flown by in our books. With that said, K-3 Technologies is really looking forward to what 2014 has in store!  To celebrate, we thought we would share 4 programs that we will be using in the coming year, and think you should to!

1. FireShot: (www.GetFireShot.com)

FireShot is an application that you can download for FireFox, Chrome, or IE. With this program you can take screenshots of full webpages. If you don’t need the whole screenshot, then you can even manually select just a portion of the page. Once you have this screenshot, then you can edit the image by cropping, highlighting, and adding text, arrows, and annotations. It’s the perfect application for web designers who work with developers in other countries, or even across the office.

2. Canva: (www.Canva.com)

We are loving Canva so much! This new web application is a lot like PicMonkey, but offers a much more graphic feel to what is created. If you are a PhotoShop enthusiast, then this is the graphic design application for you. You can create, cards, documents, presentations, graphics, facebook covers, social media pictures, and more. The cool part is that “most” of the graphics on this site are free. Otherwise you only pay a $1 for the graphics that you want to use. Let’s face it, in this day and age there are very few things that you can still buy for just a buck! Love it!

3. HootSuite: (www.Hootsuite.com)

We used Hootsuite during 2013, but next year we really plan on kicking it into high gear and earning even greater reach and ROI for our clients. This is a great social platform to use if you find your self having to manage multiple social media profiles such as Facebook, Twitter & Google +. You can test HootSuite for free for up to 5 social media platforms. If you feel like you need more than that, then you can bump to Hootsuite Pro for a small fee each month and have access to even more options for your dashboard.

4. BrightLocal: (www.Brightlocal.com)

This is a great tool that we found which we will be utilizing even more in the new year. With this program you can easily monitor and optimize your company Google Local rankings. Through it’s built in citation tracker, you can see exactly how your business is listed across major directories such as Yelp, Kudzu, Yellow Pages, etc. The best part is that you can also use this tool to analyze your competitor’s listings and see exactly what strategies are working for them.

So now it is your turn. What new programs are you getting excited to try out in the new year? Have you tried any of the above applications? We would love to hear your feedback on those as well.
